Things to do near Les Aulnaies

Les Aulnaies is in the commune of Lhomme , two kilometers from the village centre and two kilometers away from the small market town of - La Chartre sur le Loir. Situated on the Vignoble wine route which offers a pleasant walk or cycle through the local vineyards, with plenty of opportunity to purchase from local producers.

A wonderful place to visit locally is Marcon - just a 15 minute drive away, there's a large lake with man-made beach, playground, picnic area and sporting activities.

Just ten minutes away in either direction you can visit the chateaux of Ponce sur le Loir and Chahaignes.

The nearest sports centre's with indoor pools can be located 25 minutes away in either direction - Le Grand Luce, a beautiful little town with it own chateau and various gardens within it's grounds; and Chateau-du-Loir.

The National Forest  of Berce just ten minutes away is an ideal place for walking, horse-riding, cycling and picnicing.

Troo is a remarkable place and our nearest troglodyte village. Near Le Lude you can view the remains of a large Gallo-Roman settlement.

Situated halfway between Tours and Le Mans, (45 minutes from each), there are many things to see and do.

The Loire Valley, home to some of the most spectacular chateaux in France,  is a mere 45 minutes  to the South around the ancient town of Tours.  Our closest chateau is at Le Lude.

There are also opportunities for other leisure activities including fishing and golf nearby.

For those who like to visit French Markets there are many around the region.

There is a selection of leaflets in each gite giving information of various places to visit.

The Tours de France has passed close to Les Aulnaies in the past few years, at Tours in 2013 and in July 2011, the Tour de France passed straight through Lhomme.
