The Gallo-Roman Settlement

 Romans

This is a major archaelogical site in the Loire valley and covers nearly 50 acres. There are many classical roman features including a huge amphitheatre, market area, forum and baths. As you can see all the main features are there to give you a glimpse of life in Gallo-Roman France 2000 years ago.

This was an important township for the Romans and dates from the first to the third centuries A.D. but there is also evidence of an earlier bronze age settlement from 800B.C.
